Eastman Kodak Company



A Eastman Kodak Company é uma empresa multinacional dedicada ao design, produção e comercialização de equipamentos fotográficos profissionais, amadores e para as áreas de saúde. Foi fundada por George Eastman, o inventor do filme fotográfico, em 1888.


No primeiro dia do ano de 1881, George Eastman e Henry A. Strong formaram a Eastman Dry Plate Company. Eastman deixou o seu emprego em um banco para dedicar-se inteiramente ao novo projeto, fazendo pesquisas intensas com a intenção de simplificar a fotografia. Em 1888, ele lançou a câmera KODAK, tornando a base da fotografia acessível a todos.                                                                                                                                                                    George Eastman
A nova câmera podia ser transportada para qualquer lugar com facilidade. Era pré-carregada com filme suficiente para cem poses. Após a exposição, retornavam a Rochester, onde o filme era revelado.
Em 1884, a parceria de Eastman e Strong formou a nova companhia Eastman Dry Place and Film Company. Em 1889, formou-se a Eastman Company e, a partir de 1892 passou a se chamar Eastman Kodak Company e passou a distribuir mundialmente seus produtos. Isso precisou, logicamente, de uma forte campanha publicitária.

Eastman entendia que para atingir o sucesso de seu empreendimento, era necessário suprir as necessidades e desejos de seus consumidores. E foi investindo e reinvestindo em desenvolvimento através de pesquisas e na construção e extensão dos negócios que ele começou alavancar a sua história.
Em 1900, centros de distribuição foram estabelecidos na França, Alemanha, Itália e outros países da Europa. Uma unidade no Japão estava sendo considerada ao mesmo tempo em que a unidade do Canadá era construída.
Desde 1900 já fazia câmeras fotográficas modernas na época. A Kodak produziu sua primeira câmera digital na década de 1990. O software da companhia chama-se EasyShare.
Hoje, a Kodak possui operações de manufatura na América do Norte, América do Sul, Europa e Ásia, e os produtos Kodak estão disponíveis em praticamente todos os países.
Em 2012, segundo o The Wall Street Journal a empresa estaria se preparando para solicitar sua falência, o que se confirmou em 19 de janeiro de 2012, quando a Kodak apresentou perante um tribunal de Nova Iorque um pedido de concordata para reorganizar seus negócios

  One of the earliest projectors for Standard Edison 35mm films;
  Hand-cranked wheel operates film advance; Projecting light powered
  by battery, electricity, or by calcium. Uses either reel (supply and
  take-up spool) or rack (spool bank) feed for films. According to Amet
  brochure "The Magniscope ... Packed in a shipping case weighs about 90
  pounds; with Rack and Resistance Coil, 118 pounds.
  The Magniscope is furnished with a regular Darlot lens, which makes a
  picture at forty feet 5 feet by 6 feet 10 inches; the Wide Angle at
  same distance, makes a picture about 6x9 feet.
  The feed mechanism of The Magniscope is such that the film is entirely
  free from friction or tension. The film, when once set, may be run
  for an indefinite time, amd will not change its position. It is
  entirely free from the waltz motion such as the Biograph, Vitascope,
  Phantoscope, Etc. Consequently, people watching The Magniscope picture
  pictures will always enjoy themselves, for they are not made seasick
  by the clear, steady pictures this machine projects."
